OREANDA-NEWS. June 14, 2007. The Board of Directors of CenterTelecom reviewed at a meeting held today the candidates for the position of General Director of the Company, which were recommended by the Committee for Staff and Remuneration attached to the Board of Directors, and adopted a decision to appoint Vaagn Artavazdovich Martirosyan as General Director of the Board of Directors. The board also adopted the decision to approve the terms of the employment contract to be signed with the General Director, and determined the term of his powers from June 8, 2007 until July 30, 2009, inclusive.

Vaagn Artavazdovich Martirosyan was born on December 8, 1951 in Tbilisi.  In 1974, he graduated from the Erevan Polytechnical Institute majoring in Automated Systems and Telemechanics.  In 1980 he completed his graduate studies at the Institute of Management Problems under the Academy of Science and the Ministry of Tools and Instrumentation of the USSR. From 1974 to 1977 he worked as engineer, senior engineer, and then leading engineer at the Erevan division of the Central Scientific and Research Institute of Telecommunications (TsNIIS).  From 1980 to 1993 he worked as head of a laboratory, director of the scientific division, first deputy head of the Erevan division of the Erevan division of the Scientific Research Institute for Telecommunications.  He was employed at Central Telegraph in 1993 as deputy director of a company involved in creating new technologies.  He was named vice CEO of Central Telegraph for Business Development in June 1995, and first vice CEO in 1997.  In 2001 – 2007 he acted as General Director of Central Telegraph. He received the awards “Master of Telecommunications” and “Distinguished Telecommunications Employee”.  He was also awarded the medal “For excellence in work performance”. He is married with two daughters.

In addition, the Board of Directors of CenterTelecom adopted a decision to terminate the powers of a member of the Board of Management of CenterTelecom, Sergey Pridantsev effective June 7, 2007.  In accordance with the existing Russian legislation and the Charter of CenterTelecom, as of June 8, 2007 the Board of Management of the Company is to be headed by General Director of CenterTelecom Vaagn Martirosyan.
