Resume of the International Day of Children Action of DNEPROSPETSSTAL
OREANDA-NEWS. June 06, 2007. Here are the results of the charity drive held at DSS dedicated to International Children's Day. The decision was made that all funds raised should be transferred to the Oncology-Hematology Ward of the Zaporozhye Region's Hospital. Toys, books and clothes should be passed on to Residential Children's School No 3, and chalks, pencils and small toys should be taken to the hospital (as the play space there is limited) together with get-well cards and recovery wishes, reported the press-centre of DNEPROSPETSSTAL.
ou should have seen the happy faces of the kids at the Residential School when they were allowed to offload the packages from the van! And what an impressive mountain of gifts! It was a joy to see those eyes glowing with anticipation and curiosity, but you know what we were thinking- it didn't actually cost us anything. Why can't we give this joy to the kids all the time? We don't know how often and in what form but we've decided to make these drives permanent events. Are you on board?
As for the money we raised together with the Trade Union Committee of DNEPROSPETSSTAL, the amount stood at about UAH 15,000. We consulted with Tamara E. Menzeleyeva, Head of the Hematology Ward and distributed the funds for the purchase of the vitally needed medicines in the following manner:
- for Andryusha Fenogenov - UAH 1, 000.
- for Lerochka Skrypnik- UAH 1,500.
- for Zhenechka Fuklev- UAH 1,500.
- for Deniska Belka- UAH 1,000.
- for Andryusha Mikhaylenko - UAH 1,500.
The Trade Union Committee of DNEPROSPETSSTAL transferred an amount of UAH 1,000 to the account of the ward for the purchase of anti-bacterial treatment drugs and medications.
Another UAH 4,200 will be spent on the purchase of an air-conditioner. You can't imagine how great the need for it- the ward is on the top floor of a five-story building - you just can't get away from the heat. Even a healthy person would be uncomfortable, but how about the sick kids, who sometimes have to lie there under an IV drip for days on end.
The rest of the money was left in the reserve fund of the ward for emergencies.
Both parents and hospital staff asked us to express their gratitude to all those who have come forward and helped out!
Information about this drive is available in the ELEKTROMETALLURG newspaper, in the Zaporozhye press and at the website www.deti.zp.ua
One more thing. Not everybody can become a volunteer for different reasons, but many would like to contribute financial aid to the children confined to the hospital and receiving treatment in the Oncology-Hematology Ward of the Zaporozhye Region's Hospital. We have a suggestion to make - we could have collection boxes stationed at the main gates of the steel mill and regularly pass the funds collected on to the hospital. Even a hryvnia dropped by you once a month will help- aren't there many of us! If you have your own suggestions or ideas - call our press-service at 222 3613.
Once again - Thanks to everyone!
