OREANDA-NEWS. June 9, 2007. The Board of Directors of OJSC Russian Communal Utility Systems has approved a short term program of investment for 2007 worth 1.3 billion rubles.

The investment program of OJSC RCUS covers 36 projects and end-to-end programs for the construction and refurbishment of boiler houses, upgrading utility grids, reconstruction and expansion of water purification systems, streamlining heating supply layouts, installation of up-to-date service accounting systems, etc.

As in previous years OJSC RCUS will invest 151 million rubles in modernizing the heating networks in Vladimir. OJSC RCUS has invested 200 million rubles in the heating supply networks of Vladimir since 2006.

OJSC RCUS will make available 100 million rubles for co-funding work on the external water supply systems of Kirov and the completion of the fourth unit of the water purification system. Funding for the facility was made available in 2006 from the Federal Target Program Affordable Housing (subprogram Upgrading Communal Utility Infrastructural Facilities) within 50 million rubles plus 70 million rubles of private investment from OJSC RCUS. The new purification unit will expand the scope of water purification and make it possible to decommission the old facility that has operated since 1937.

100 million rubles from OJSC RCUS funds will be made available for the end-to-end program of developing the water supply and drainage systems of LLC Novgor-Prikamye. The company has been managed by OJSC RCUS since 2007 and providing service to utilities in Perm, Berezniki and Krasnokamsk.

Other major investment projects of OJSC RCUS for this year include the construction of a modular distributed boiler house in Bryansk, conversion of boiler houses in the Prionezhski district of Karelia to gas, installation of commercial electricity accounting units in the cities and towns of the Perm territory, and the construction of a start-up complex for the refurbishment of water purification facilities in Petrozavodsk.

The executive director of OJSC RCUS Nikolai Stepanov says that as of this year the investment program of OJSC RCUS will rely on a comprehensive approach. The company makes choice in favor of large-scale projects capable of bringing about a tangible change for the better in the operation of the communal utility infrastructure. The number of small projects will be cut to a minimum.
