Leningrad Nuclear Power Engineers Conduct Volunteer Clean-up Action
OREANDA-NEWS. June 9, 2007. A number of similar events have taken place at Russian NPPs this week on the occasion of the World Environment Day (June 5).
Over 20 employees of the plant took part in the action.
They cleaned up the area near the plant’s tennis court and volleyball ground. “This is one of the favorite recreation areas in our city, especially, in the summer. We have done really much: we have cleaned up the area and the court, repaired and painted the benches, etc,” say the participants in the action.
“We have held such actions almost every week of late,” says the director of the Power Engineer sports and concert complex Vitaly Kuzyakin. “Recently we cleaned up the shore of Kovash river, we regularly clean up the area of the Chaika base. We do it not on anybody’s instruction, we just want our city to be clean and tidy.”
“I try to never miss such actions. This is our city, we live here. So, we should make it clean and beautiful. We believe that everything related to nuclear power engineering must be clean,” says one of the participants Viktor Baranenko.
