OREANDA-NEWS. June 04, 2007. For Chirurt HPP - the first stage of Sulak Cascade - which was commissioned in December of 1961 the flood of this year is the 46th one, reported the press-centre of  “Regional Power Generation Company of Dagestan”.
 
Water flow is one of the main factors in the power generation process, and specialists of the station always regretted about the “extra” water they had to discharge every year while the high water period; this water could have been used for hydrogenation, if there was one more plant downstream the existing one.
 
This dream of our power engineers came true: a new plant was built near Gelbakh HPS. JSC “Regional Power Generation Company of Dagestan” ordered construction of this hydropower station of 44 MW capacity to “Energostroy Ltd.” and “KaspiSGEM Ltd.” subcontractor. The plant was commissioned in two years.
 
Gelbakh hydropower plant passed all industrial tests and inspections performed by the experts from Moscow. These days this generation facility is being prepared to start the work in automated mode controlled from the Central Dispatch Board of Sulak Cascade HPSs.
 
One out of the two hydroelectric generators of Gelbakh HPP is running at 17-19MWВ capacity, the other one is ready to process the flow of the high water.
 
During the first three days of the month of June the hydroelectric generator of Gelbakh HPP generated its first 1000000kW/h of electric power.
