On May 31, 2007 Gazprommedstrakh, a medical insurance company and part of the SOGAZ Insurance Group, has been declared the winner in a public tender held to select medical insurance organisations to provide obligatory medical insurance (OMI) for the unemployed and senior citizens in the Rostov Region, reported the press-centre of  SOGAZ.

Subject to the tender results, Gazprommedstrakh will provide insurance to 300,000 unemployed and senior citizens residing in Novoshakhtinsk, Donetsk, Gukovo, and eleven districts in the Rostov Region: Bokovsky, Dubovsky, Yegorlyksky, Zavetinsky, Zimovnikovsky, Kuibyshevsky, Orlovsky, Remontnensky, Rodionovo-Nesvetaisky, Sovetsky, and Chertkovsky.

Gazprommedstrakh has provided obligatory medical insurance services for the population of the Rostov Region since August 2003. As of now, Gazprommedstrakh has been providing OMI policies to employed people in the region. With account for the results of the tender, the number of OMI policyholders of the company in the Rostov Region already exceeds 380,000 people.

A major medical insurance company in Russia, Gazprommedstrakh has insured over 8,8 million people.
