New boats for fishing in Turkmenistan
OREANDA-NEWS. June 02, 2007. Modern fishing vessels and equipment, purchased on President Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedov’s instructions, were delivered to a large fishery farm in Esenguly coastal settlement, reported the Presidential website www.turkmenistan.gov.tm.
This project is one of phases in implementing the national large-scale programme for development of the coastal area. Building up of the Caspian region’s economic capacity with improvement of national fishing and processing industry logistics is an integral component of the National Programme “Strategy for Turkmenistan’s economic, political and cultural development in the period till 2020”.
Currently the fishery farm workers assemble and prepare for launching Kazanka-4 light duralumin boats. 12 small-tonnage vessels to be used in the littoral zone for catching sazan, grey mullet and other food fish have been already floated. Over 30 fishermen, integrated in the farm, are grouped into the teams responsible for proper operation and maintenance of new vessels and equipment. The majority of fishermen have tested the boats and returned with a rich haul.
Esenguly people’s traditional occupation will be raised to a higher level. The additional 20 mini-boats and sufficient amount of fishing gear to be supplied current year under the practical steps programme for development of social and economic infrastructure of the coastal region, will enable to enlarge the fishery farm. An industrial complex, including a laboratory and canning shop for processing fish products, will be constructed in the region. Thus, marine fishing will be given a strong incentive for development and delicious fish products produced in compliance with world standards will find their market in the world.
