OREANDA-NEWS. June 5, 2007. The 3rd unit of Kursk NPP was restarted after planned repair on May 31 2007. The repair was started on May 15. All the operating and safety systems have been examined, tested and repaired. The turbine generators have been repaired, the heat exchange systems cleaned. The repair was aimed at enhancing the safety and efficiency of the unit.

The unit is operating safely. The 1st, 2nd and 4th units are working according to the schedule.

The radiation background at the plant and in the nearby area is within norm.
