OREANDA-NEWS. June 5, 2007. Ilim Pulp top management have decided to send RUB 150 thousand to support a charitable telethon, “Save the child and you will save the world” that starts off in Irkutsk on June 1.

Charitable actions supporting children have become a good tradition in Irkutsk oblast. “Save the child and you will save the world” is an annual telethon running the fourth consecutive year. The telethon starts off on June 1, the International Children’s Day, and the fundraising action will last till September 20. Mini-telethons will be held in all city councils across Irkutsk oblast. All the raised money will be spent to provide treatment for children suffering from diabetes and cancer, to purchase medical equipment and to provide help for the disadvantaged children and orphanages of Irkutsk oblast. The results of the action will be summarized late in September.

The main purpose of the telethon is to draw public attention to the needs of ill and disadvantaged children, as well as to raise money and material resources.
