Klaipedos Smelte Has Opened New Container Terminal
OREANDA-NEWS. May 29, 2007. The stevedoring company Klaipedos Smelte has opened the deep-water container terminal in Klaipeda.
The total area of the terminal is 7 hectares. The length of the new berth is 550 m, the depth - 11.5 m. Above $17.541 mn were invested in the project.
"This year we are going to handle about 50 thousand TEU. Pioneering ships have moored. In future container turnover can increase up to 250 thousand TEU", - announced Rimantas Vashtakas, the head of Klaipedos Smelte.
