OREANDA-NEWS. May 23, 2007. In the 1st quarter of 2007 power losses equaled 4 387 413 thousand kW. Compared with the 1st quarter of the previous year the Company managed to reduce the losses by 825 776 thousand kW (the factual losses in the 1st quarter of 2006 were 5 213 189 thousand kW), reported the press-centre of  JSC “IDGC of Centre and North Caucasus”.


JSC “IDGC of Centre and North Caucasus” considers power losses optimization as priority - oriented in the cost management of power transport. The Company approved “The Programme Procedure for Power Loss Reduction in DGC Lines” with all the necessary activities prescribed.  The planned effect of activities on power loss reduction was 397 900 thousand kW in 2007, including organizational arrangements - 81 100 thousand kW, technical activities - 53 100 thousand kW as well as activities on commercial and technical recording improvement - 263 700 thousand kW.


The main influence on power loss reduction is made by minimizing the number of technical errors in commercial recording, metering equipment installation at building sites, the use of large - size wires for overloaded lines, substitution of overloaded transformers, the use of steel insulated wires instead of usual ones, etc. The total effect of activities realized in the previous year was approximately 380 190 thousand kW.
