OREANDA-NEWS. May 25, 2007. WANO MC conducted technical support mission at Bilibino NPP. The Moscow Center of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO MC) conducted a technical support mission at Bilibino NPP. The topic of the mission was “Adoption of Effective Operational Decisions.”

During a special seminar the heads of the plant’s maintenance and operational services considered different situations at world NPPs, analyzed the quality of adopted decisions, mistakes and their possible solutions.

“The key goal of the mission was to show and to examine the principles of effective decision making,” the advisor of the WANO MC Sergey Frolov said. “We should learn to control events lest they might control us. Effective decision making should be based on high awareness and system approach.”

Technical support missions are meant to disseminate positive experience and to enhance the safety and efficiency of NPPs.

The WANO MC experts pointed out the strong commitment of the plant’s managers to acquire new knowledge and their constructive approach towards its practical application.

After the mission each participant was given a certificate of high qualification in effective operational decision making.
