Since 2007 Russian Draftees Can Do Their Alternative Military Service at Post
OREANDA-NEWS. May 24, 2007. OJSC Since 2007 draftees who are to change military service for alternative one can do their alternative military service at post serving as postmen or sorters.
This year Russian Post is ready to accept 7820 draftees, 5330 and 2490 of them in spring and autumn draft respectively. Young men can serve in 28 AFPS of Russian Post in Moscow, the Republic of Adygheya, Bashkortostan, Mariy El, Sakha(Yakutia) and the Chuvash Republic, also in Archangelsk, Belgorod, Vologda, Irkutsk, Kaliningrad, Kaluga, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Pskov, Ryazan, Sakhalin, Saratov, Sverdlovsk, Tver, Tomsk and Chelyabinsk regions, Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk, Primorskiy and Stavropol territories, Khanty-Mansi and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Areas.
The decision of alternative military service is taken by the military commissariats of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in accordance with the plan approved by the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation.
An employer signs the contract of alternative military service for a certain term with a drafter as he reaches AFPS. Labor payment is performed according to the enterprise’s Single Salary Payment System.
Postal positions were added to the list of work, professions, posts, companies stipulated for alternative military service on the initiative of Russian Post. So late 2006 the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation has taken the appropriate proposals.
This innovation will help to attract public attention to postal service and solve HR-related matters concerning the most demanded positions at post.
If the project is a success in 2008 Russian Post will increase the number of regions where citizens of Russia can do alternative military service.
