OREANDA-NEWS. May 18, 2007.. Evgeny Makarov, the General Director of JSC “IDGC of Center and North Caucasus” had a working meeting with Alexander Mikhailov, the Governor of Kursk region on May 15. In the course of the meeting the parties discussed issues  on signing an agreement on mutual cooperation between JSC ‘IDGC of Center and North Caucasus” and Kursk regional authorities which is planned to be signed in June of the current year.

Evgeny Makarov, the General Director of JSC “IDGC of Center and North Caucasus” said, that within the restructuring process of RAO “UES of Russia” and the perspective plans for the Kursk region development and neighboring regions of Kursk, JSC “Kurskenergo” is aiming to provide reliable operation of the power grid complex as well as its further development.


“The power industry should not impede its development of regional industry”, - Evgeny Makarov noted. The grid complex, according to Makarov’s estimation, as opposite to generation and sale is a natural monopoly and is under state control being a vital infrastructure unit. Hereafter, in accordance with the restructuring plan the grid companies have to stay under state regulation: FTS controls at federal level, and Government executive bodies in the regions. That is why the interests of the regional authorities and power engineers coincide.

Therefore, it is necessary to determine the investment program value , meant for power grid complex development as well as for the development of regional economics and implementation of national projects.
Andrei Karbukov, Deputy Director General of Information Policy of JSC “IDGC of Center and North Caucasus” , Sergei Podolsky, Deputy Director General – Director of the IDGC Black-Earth Directorate, Dmitry Gurin, Managing Director of JSC “Kurskenergo”, Alexander Demin and Gennady Shirokonosov, Deputy Chairmen of the Government of Kursk region also participated in the meeting.

In the course of the working meeting the participants met the JSC “Kurskenrgo” management and discussed some relevant issues, and visited the Client Care Center to be opened in Kursk in the near future.
