On May 2007 Atomstroyexport and Paks NPP Concluded Cooperation Agreement
OREANDA-NEWS. The agreement was signed by the president of ASE Sergey Shmatko and the director general of Paks Josef Kovac in Komarno, a Slovak town near the Slovak-Hungarian border.
The objective of the agreement is to ensure effective cooperation for enhancing the safety and efficiency of Paks NPP.
The sides are planning to modernize the plant’s 1-4 WWER-440 units with a view to enhance their capacity, to prolong their lives and to introduce new technologies tested at Russian NPPs.
Atomstoryexport will also consult Paks NPP on building units with WWER-1000 reactors.
The agreement is based on the recommendations of the 2nd meeting of the Russian-Hungarian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in 2006.
Atomstroyexport is consistently working to strengthen the positions of Russian nuclear technologies on Central and Eastern European markets.
