OREANDA-NEWS. On May 12, 2007 the three presidents Vladimir Putin, Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov and Nursultan Nazarbaev discussed joint action to develop energy cooperation, in particular by increasing their gas transportation capacities, reported the Presidential website www.kremlin.ru
The three heads of state signed a Joint Declaration on Constructing a Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline and a Joint Declaration on Developing Gas Transportation Facilities in Central Asia.
They discussed a wide range of problems associated with cooperation in the Caspian Sea area and, in particular, issues relating to transport infrastructure and the environment.
Vladimir Putin noted that agreements between Russia, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan on constructing a trans-Caspian pipeline and on developing gas transportation facilities in Central Asia will result in increased deliveries of energy supplies to European and world markets.
Intergovernmental agreements on reconstructing the existing trans-Caspian pipeline and constructing a new pipeline system will be signed before September 2007, Vladimir Putin told journalists after the talks.
