OREANDA-NEWS. May 15, 2007. IlimSibLes (Ust-Ilimsk Group of logging companies of the forest industry corporation Ilim Pulp) has spent over 4 million roubles to prepare for the coming fire season.

Fire fighting operations headquarters were created to carry out fire preventing measures and coordinate all fire suppression actions. In order to provide all the necessary fire preventing and fire fighting measures, it has been decided to set up an integrated mechanized brigade operating a number of all-terrain buses, two tractor trailers, and six bulldozers.

All logging companies have also made sure every chemical fire fighting station, all the instruments and equipment are prepared and available in case of fire emergency.

A stockpile of combustives and lubricants sufficient for the whole fire season has been established. The company has also created a foodstuffs stockpile for fire brigades to be replenished during the whole fire season. Dispatcher departments are to start working from May 10 in order to coordinate fire fighting operations.

Together with IlimLesAvia, a local air company, IlimSibLes has drawn up a schedule to air-patrol forest areas leased by IlimSibLes. All logging companies are working to provide early clearing out of brush wood from felling areas.
