OREANDA-NEWS. On May 06, 2007 a solemn ceremony of the Nativity Church Foundation Stone Ceremony took place in the village of Rozhdestveno in Valuyki district of Belgorod region. Johann, the Archbishop of Belgorod and Stary Oskol, consecrated the foundation stone. Evgeny Makarov, the General Director of JSC ‘IDGC of Center and North Caucasus” participated in the ceremony, reported the press-centre of  JSC “IDGC of Center and North Caucasus”.


Victor Filatov, the Managing Director of JSC “Belgorodenergo”, a local perlementarian of “The United Russia” faction, opened the ceremony. ‘The restoration of the temple, - he said, - is a spiritual revival for the neighboring villages. Today is the time to do it”. The decision to build the Nativity Church was made by Victor Filatov after the citizens of Maslovka and Rozhdestveno villages asked to reconstruct the church destroyed by fire in 1978. A board of trustees was set up by the local government head. It comprises the executives of the Valuyki district industrial companies and community leaders, with Victor Filatov serving as Chairman.The temple will be an exact copy of the Nativity Church which was located in the village of Maslovka. Alexander Vernigora, the architect in charge pointed out that it will be made of wood of the same design as the previous church of Maslovka.The draft design of the Nativity Church was blessed by Johann, the Archbishop of Belgorod and Stary Oskol on January 18, 2007.  “Stroybusiness” is the main contractor of the project.


Evgeny Makarov, the General Director of JSC ‘IDGC of Center and North Caucasus” expressed confidence that the Nativity Church will be built by heart and soul. That is the way the power engineers face any challenge. Ivan Posokhov, the head of Valuyki district authority thanked JSC “Belgorodenergo” for the constant help and support in the spiritual renewal of the nation. He said, that the power engineers participated in the reconstruction and building of the Kazan Madonna Church in the village of Kazinka, St. John the Baptist Church in Urazovo, while at the same time and under the auspices of JSC “Belgorodenergo” the Ignatius of Antioch spelaean monastery is being reconstructed as well. Mr. Posokhov pointed out another good deed was accomplished on the eve of the national holiday, Victory Day.


The ceremony culmination was the festive prayer and the foundation stone consecrating by Johann, the Archbishop of Belgorod and Stary Oskol. The Archbishop thanked Evgeny Makarov and Victor Filatov for their constant participation and help with the rebirth of the relics: “All churches in our parts land are unique thanks to the way they have been illuminated by the power engineers. There is no such thing in any other region of Russia”.
