OREANDA-NEWS. May 7, 2007.  Final stage of Olympics took place in Yekaterinburg on 5-6th of May. Olympics are conducted by Federation of Labour Unions of Sverdlovsk region. The strongest teams of the region took part in volleyball tournament which was held at recreation ground of Tram-trolley bus control. The teams were representatives of craft unions of metallurgists, builders, power engineers, defence sector, teachers, aviators and operators. The honor of power engineers was vindicated by a team from Artemovsk power networks of Sverdlovenergo Public Company (team captain – Alexander Shevarenkov, the head of Egordhinsk power station). Power engineers scored volleyball players from Uralmash plant, Pervouralsk plant, team of Department of Education and in final competition they outplayed “Sinara”.

It should be mentioned that labour unions competed in five sport events this year. The first place in mini-football was won by defence sector, but the second place belongs to the sector of power (team of “Sverdlovenergosbyt” Public Company). If to speak about ski-and swimming contests as well as volleyball, power engineers can be said unsurpassed. The first place in total set of scores was won by “Elektroprofsouz” committee (its Chairman – K.M. Shestov) thanks to the sportsmen who took part in Olympics and its organizers “Sverdlovenergo” Public Company and in the first instance – U.L. Leontjev, the chairman of labour union committee and V.I. Agapov, the chairman of Board of veterans.
