Ilim Pulp Subsidiaries Output In 1 Quarter 2007
OREANDA-NEWS. In January-March 2007, pulp and paper output by the corporation’s subsidiaries amounted to 659,3 thousand tonnes, 8,9% up as compared to first quarter 2006. Market pulp output went up 14% to over 393,7 thousand tonnes. Board production raised by just 1% to 192,3 thousand tonnes. Paper production totalled 68 thousand tones, 5% up year-over-year, reported the press-centre of Ilim Pulp. Pulping went up 9% to 647,7 thousand tonnes.
Mechanical woodworking products saw a considerable growth owing to hardboard output that went up 28% totalling 12,9 million sq metres. Output of woodworking products was up 26% at 2,8 thousand cu metres. 34,3 thousand cu m of plywood was produced, up 2% from the past year’s level. Market lumber production output amounted to 119,9 thousand cu m, 6% up year-over-year. Over the first quarter of 2007, the logging companies of the Corporation logged 2,3 million cu metres of timber, 13,5% up year-over-year. Total timber supply by Ilim Pulp’s subsidiaries was 13,1% up to the level of 2006 at 1,69 million cu metres.
Such remarkable growth in logging volumes is due to planned realization of investment programme aimed to implement economically sound logging technologies, including purchase of imported and domestic equipment. At the same time, supply by outside companies grew 7,9% to 1,98 million cu metres. The correlation between inside and outside supply reflects the company’s plan to optimize raw wood supply based on the logging markets analysis.
