OREANDA-NEWS. In 2006 OJSC “VolgaTelecom” investments amounted to 5 882,4 million roubles (112,2%).

At 2006 year-end the expenses for local telephony development made up 1 713,8 million roubles or 29% of the total volume of investments. The share of investments into the development of new services and technologies, data transfer networks amounted to 37,7% of the total volume of investments, which is 3,9 times more than the investment level in 2005.

2 218,6 million roubles were allocated for the development of new services and data transfer networks. 807,4 million roubles or 13,7% of the total volume of investments were allocated for the development of network infrastructure of intrazonal communication.

In 2006 434 900 numbers were put into operation at OJSC “VolgaTelecom” local telephone communication networks, including 358 100 numbers at urban telephone networks and 76 900 numbers at rural telephone networks. In 2006 the share of digital PBX in the total capacity of switching equipment of exchanges at local networks grew from 63,3% to 68,5%.

Thus, the installed capacity made up 5 123 700 numbers. The gain in basic telephone sets made up 153 000 numbers, the quantity of telephone sets per 100 residents reached 24,9 units.
