OREANDA-NEWS. April 27, 2007.   Wings of Russia National Award Project awarding ceremony was held for the tenth time in Moscow. For the first time this year the airlines competed for Passengers’ Choice Award. The winner was determined in the course of all-Russian Internet poll. Thousand of users got a chance to express their view as to which airlines are most popular among Russian passengers. Transaero Airlines received the majority of votes and got the Passenger Choice Award.

Accepting the award, Olga Pleshakova, Transaero Airlines Director General, said that this nomination was of particular importance for the airline, as the passengers are the main reason for airlines existence. She thanked all poll participants who voted for Transaero, and all Transaero passengers. Olga Pleshakova assured that Transaero will continue applying every effort to win passengers' sympathy.

Transaero was the first airline, which singled out passenger services into a separate line of business, thus confirming its commitment to customer-oriented approach. Many service standards developed by Transaero are unique for the industry.

The number of Transaero passenger-kilometers reached approximately 7.8 billion in 2006. The airline was the third it terms of passenger-kilometers and the second in terms of passenger flow on international routes.

In the first two months of 2007 the number of the airline passenger-kilometers exceeded 1.82 billion, which is by 58% more than for the similar period of 2006. In accordance with the latest data published by the Transport Clearing Chamber, in terms of passenger-kilometers (983.2 thousand) Transaero was the second among Russian airlines in January 2007.
