OREANDA-NEWS. Representative of OAO TransContainer (Russia) started operating in Brest at the railway transport loading knot, called Brest-Northern.

OAO TransContainer is interested in operation at the Byelorussian territory due to rise of foreign throughput in Russia and tendency of rise of volume of transit container transportation via Byelorussian territory, Jury Kapustin, head of Byelorussian representative office of the company, said. Volume of transit transportation via Byelorussian territory increased by 89% in 2006. Transportation of large-capacity containers by railway transport increased by 22% at the first quarter of 2007. The company will use its own transport for transportation, Kapustin added. The Byelorussia will get financial profit as well. OAO TransContainer got an obligation to organize a service of service of container transportation to the Volkswagen plant in Kaluga (Russia) and transportation of spare parts from China to Czech Republic. That meaты that 1-2 Chinese container trains will be loaded at Brest. Byelorussian railway will get several thousand dollars for handling of freights monthly.
