OREANDA-NEWS. On April 16, 2007 Lifosa AB, a subsidiary of EuroChem, and Kaunas University of Technology signed cooperation agreement, reported the press-centre of EuroChem. The agreement reflects the company's commitment to consolidate science and manufacturing, education and practice. The enterprise and the university preparing technical professionals have assumed the liability to render each other information and technical support, jointly create and carry out scientific research projects to be presented to structural funds of the European Union and other institutions.

Lifosa AB will render assistance to the university in improving training programs and arranging practical training at the enterprise, as well consult students on their theses and graduation works. University researchers will make familiar with technology and other innovations launched at the enterprise.
In its turn, the university will invite Lifosa personnel to participate in its scientific conferences and workshops. The university curricula will be drawn up in accordance with Lifosa needs; the enterprise will propose themes for students' theses.

Lifosa General Director Jonas Dastikas strongly believes that the cooperation will be mutually beneficial. "We are practitioners, but when launching new technology we cannot do without advice and recommendations of researchers. In this case we appeal to professors of Kaunas University of Technology and arrive at optimal solutions during our discussions. We understand that industrial enterprises should ensure investment in technical equipment of educational and scientific research institutions, and we are ready to render financial assistance of this kind".


Zigmundas Beresniavichus, the Dean of Chemical Engineering Faculty, says that the university is interested in maintaining close relations with one of the largest Lithuanian enterprises: "We are glad that Lifosa has promised a financial assistance to the laboratory of analytical chemistry. University students which are in training at the enterprise, obtain new knowledge and experience. This cooperation helps to obtain high proficiency, as students get acquainted with the process and new technologies on site". Currently twelve Lifosa employees are correspondence students of Kaunas University of Technology. Almost 30% of Lifosa managers and employees have graduated from the University, faculties of chemical engineering, mechanics, power engineering and so on.
