OREANDA-NEWS. On April 15, 2007 on Sevmash two important events take place – nuclear submarine of strategic purpose “Yury Dolgoroky” has been lead out the shop, and floating power unit has been laid for the first nuclear heating and power station in the world, reported the press-centre of Sevmash.

At the ceremonies of leading out and laying, the First Vice-Premier of RF Government S.B. Ivanov, Deputy Minister of Defence, Chief of Russian Armed Forces, Army General А.М. Moskovsky, Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief, Admiral of the Fleet V.V. Masorin, Moscow Mayor Yu.М. Luzhkov, Head and Chief Designer of CDB MT “Rubin” V.А. Zdornov, Head of Federal Agency of Nuclear Power S.V. Kirienko, Head of Arkhangelsk Region Administration N.I. Kiselev, heads of enterprises of the branch and design organizations, representatives of financial spheres and naval forces command presented. One hundred journalists were authorized to provide information on this event.

”The last submarine of strategic purpose was commissioned to Navy by shipbuilders of Sevmash 17 years ago, - said Sergey Ivanov in opening address. – The proper ship name is symbolic: as once prince Yury Dolgoruky combined Moscow lands, as ship combined the thousands of high-tech enterprises working for final result”. Y.M. Luzhkov (in particular Moscow government took under its patronage of new ship building in the beginning of construction), A.M. Moskovsky, A.G. Burutin, V.A. Zdornov, E.P. Velikhov, V.V. Masorin addressed to the present people with congratulation speech.

”We have marine strategic nuclear forces, just several countries in the world – you could count them on the fingers of one hand – have such forces, even less number of countries have such arms”, - emphasized Commander-in-Chief. To his mind, “only two or three countries can build such ships on their own”.

Just after ending of leading out nuclear submarine ceremony, in adjacent berth shop, floating power unit was laid. Power unit was named “Akademik Lomonosov”. S.B. Ivanov and S.V. Kirienko fastened laying plate to construction of floating power unit section. Building of floating nuclear power-station is planned to be over in 2010 year. Power of this nuclear power-station will be 70 MW, generally Sevmash will be powered by the station.
