OREANDA-NEWS. In quarter I of 2007 OJSC “VolgaTelecom” has provided access to Internet to 843 educational institutions of the Volga Federal district (VFD), having outstripped the scheduled targets by 62,6% (514 schools). By the year end 2 680 schools will be also connected to Internet.

The program of providing educational institutions with access to Internet information resources is being realized within priority national project “Education” carried out by RF Ministry of education and science jointly with RF Ministry of IT and communication.

The schools are connected to Internet within the performance of obligations of the contract concluded with “RTKomm” company to provide the services of arranging communication channels to educational institutions at the rate of at least 128 Kbps.

At present OJSC “VolgaTelecom” concluded contracts for the supply of at least 90% of the required equipment.
