OREANDA-NEWS. April 16, 2007 School-leavers and graduates of the Polytechnic College of Novovoronezh (Voronezh region) met with the deputy director general of Rosenergoatom-the director of Novovoroneszh NPP V.Vikin
The deputy director for personnel management of NNPP Y.Meremyanin and the rector of the International Institute of Computer Technologies, Professor A.Shiyanov were also present at the meeting.
The key topic of the meeting was the target training of specialists for the construction of new NNPP units. The sides discussed not only career opportunities and employment conditions in the Rosenergoatom system but also the development prospects of the nuclear power industry and the use of new technologies in the construction of the new NNPP units.
Vikin said: “Presently, our industry is facing the difficult task of building new NPP units in the framework of the federal target program “The Development of the Nuclear Power Complex of Russia in 2007-2010 and Till 2015.” Such projects require active recruitment of highly-qualified personnel.”
The construction of new units at Novovoronezh NPP will require 5,000-6,000 specialists. The operation of the units will require almost 2,000 specialists. “And we have very little time for training them - our deadline is 2012. Hence, it is quite possible that we will need all of you,” Vikin said.
The personnel development program implies close cooperation with the leading specialized universities and colleges, including the local ones - the Polytechnic College and the local department of the International Institute of Compute Technologies, opened by Rosenergoatom 7 years ago.
The audience showed a high interest in the plant’s on-site training program “Enterprise-Higher Technical Educational Institution.” Under this program, starting from the third year, the students of the local HTECs will spent half of their studies at Novovoronezh NPP and will be actively involved in its work.
The topics of their theses will also be about NNPP. This will allow local students to acquire practical skills and to get easily involved in the plant’s working process. The students will be given access to the plant’s high-tech laboratories and training center and will be guided by highly-qualified and experience specialists.
