OREANDA-NEWS. April 12, 2007. The incident took place Apr 8 night: an acid tank truck going to Khiagda OJSC, a company developing the Khiagda uranium deposit, drove off the road 67 km of Romanovka village and 15 km of the destination, reported the press-centre of TVEL.
11 tons of acid have been removed by special vehicles and recycled. The remaining 2.5 tons have been neutralized. Specific relief and frozen soil prevented spill into nearby ponds.
No casualties have been reported. Representatives of TVEL are investigating into the incident. Those guilty will be punished.
