Rosenergoatom Concern is Taking Part in the 7th International Forum “The Fuel and Energy Complex of Russia”
OREANDA-NEWS. April 11, 2007. The Concern has presented its new technological solutions and nuclear energy development plans. Particularly, by 2016 the capacity of the Russian NPPs is to make up 35 GW against 23,2 GW in 2006; the share of NPP output in the total energy production — 18,6% against 15,7% 2006. In 2016 the NPPs are to produce 239bln KWh against 150,9bln KWh in 2006, reported the press-centre of Rosenergoatom.
A roundtable on nuclear energy development prospects is being held today in the framework of the forum. The pro-rector of the State Regional Educational Center of Rosatom Vladimir Prokushev stressed the importance of the nuclear energy development plans. He informed the audience that 1,5 trillion RUR is to be spent on the construction of new NPPs, with half of the money to be allocated by the Government. “The new safer reactors will become the basis of the future nuclear energy industry of Russia,” Prokushev said.
The representative of Techsnabexport Denis Pilipishin reported about the modern tendencies on the global uranium market. The representative of Lutch Scientific-Industrial Association Sergey Gavrilin presented a new type of fuel for low- and medium-capacity reactors – cermet fuel elements. This fuel allows reactors to effectively work for a longer period with no refueling.
The forum is conducted every year in early Apr. The program of the forum includes a plenary session, conferences, roundtables and specialized exhibitions.
