OREANDA-NEWS. JSC "Aeroflot - Russian Airlines" became a winner of the national premium "Wings of Russia 2006" in two key nominations - the best Russian passenger carrier on domestic and international routes (in the category of large airline companies), reported the press-centre of  Aeroflot. Winners and laureates of the competition were determined by the secret voting of the members representing The Wings of Russia Public Council, which consists of more than 100 members - former heads of the Civil Aviation Ministry USSR, representatives of the Russian government, Federal agencies, heads of noncommercial associations in the sphere of aviation, mass media aviation columnists, etc.

Passenger carriages were evaluated according to level of safety, passenger turnover, volume of carried passengers, passenger load factor, and earnings volume from passenger carriages, profitability level and professional criteria. On the whole 27 Russian airline companies from various Russian regions participated in the contest to win the title of "The Airline Company of the Year 2006". Annual competition "Wings of Russia" was founded in 1997 by the Russian Association of Air Transport Operators, magazine "Air Transport Observer" and consulting company "Infomost".
