On March 30, 2007 "COMSTAR - United TeleSystems"  announced that it has completed the renaming process of its Comstar Direct subsidiary, which is the leading provider of broadband Internet access in Moscow, reported the press-centre of "COMSTAR - United TeleSystems". The renaming process started in December 2006, when MTU-Intel was renamed as Comstar Direct, in order to highlight its affiliation with the Comstar UTS Group. The change of the name will be reflected in the Company's logotype with effect from April 2007. The "Stream" trade mark will continue to be used as the brand for the broadband services provided by Comstar Direct.


Eric Franke, President and Chief Executive Officer of Comstar UTS, commented: "The renaming of Comstar Direct is part of our overall strategy to vertically integrate our operating subsidiaries, and to optimize the value of our wide range of customer product and service offerings. The objective of the renaming process is to build mass market awareness of the Comstar brand, by highlighting our unique market position and integrated offering of a full range of telecommunication services to all customer categories. The provision of such a range of services by a single operator is the future for the market, and is at the core of our strategic development plans." Vladimir Malyavin, General Director of Comstar Direct, added: "We are currently implementing a programme to improve the quality of our services in accordance with the high standards required by Comstar UTS. We are also developing new converging telecommunications and media services in cooperation with other Sistema Telecom Group companies."
