OREANDA-NEWS. KAMAZ-Metallurgy Plc. is making preparations for environmental management certification on conformance to ISO 14001: 2004 standard, which is planned for the end of 2007, reported the press-centre of  KAMAZ. There were determined significant ecological aspects, factors with adverse environmental impact, including solid waste generation. This year the enterprise is targeted at “reducing the volumes of industrial waste disposal due to their salvage, realization and utilization”.

90% of industrial waste of the foundry is used for revegetation of the open-cast mine in the area of iron casting production. In the 70-ies the borrow soil was transported for construction of all KAMAZ projects, thus, formation of the huge open-cast mine was inevitable. In compliance with applicable law we shouldered responsibility to return this place its natural terrain with revegetation, - commented Valery Morogov, the chief environmentalist of KAMAZ-Metallurgy Plc. This open-cast mine is expected to be filled with industrial waste (including waste from the forge plant) which is marginally harmful for the environment (class of waste harmfulness is not higher than 4). The technical stage will be followed by a biological one - the layer of fat land will be brought there. One more perspective way to reduce volumes of waste is its delivery to other enterprises for salvage or utilization. For example, metallurgic enterprises can be interested in hammer scale - one of the wastes of the foundry plant which can be used as basic material.
