"B+" Level Is Assigned to the Companies Which Adhere to the Corporate Governance Requirements of the Russian Legislation
OREANDA-NEWS. March 22, 2007 "B+" level is assigned to the companies which adhere to the corporate governance requirements of the Russian legislation and partially introduce basic recommendations of the RF Code of Corporate Behaviour into their practices. The risks associated with violation of the companies’ shareholder rights, as well as with inefficient operation of the management bodies and informational non-transparency of business activities are estimated as moderate, reported the press-centre of Belon Company.
This rating being a project of the Consortium of the Russian Institute of Directors (RID) and Expert RA Rating Agency provides investors with relevant information on the corporate governance state of a company. The research offers an independent expert analysis of observance of the Russian and international standards of corporate governance in part of protection of shareholder rights, activity of management and control bodies, information disclosure and consultation of interests of the parties involved in corporate relations.
The RID and Expert RA Consortium conducts a regular evaluation of the quality of corporate governance in 150-200 Russian companies. Following the 2006 results, "B+" Rating was assigned to the following companies: OAO Norilsky Nickel Mining and Metallurgical Integrated Works, OAO West Siberian Steel Mill, OAO Novosibirskenergo, OAO Novolipetsky Steel Mill, OAO Mechel Steel Group, OAO Tatneft.
