The Novorossisk Port to Increase Oil Transhipment with the Burgas - Alexandroupolis Oil Pipeline Coming on Stream
OREANDA-NEWS. March 24, 2007 OAO Novorossiisky Morskoy Torgovy Port, or Novorossisk Commercial Seaport OJSC, will be looking at a higher scale of oil transfer through its terminals once the Burgas - Alexandroupolis oil pipeline comes on stream. This is what Igor Vilinov, the company's CEO, told the international forum on trading in energy products and bunkering in the South, reported the press-centre of Transneft.
Vilinov indicated that the scale of transhipment at Novorossisk is determined by Transneft's throughput capabilities, which are currently rated at 48 to 49 mln tonnes a year for this destination. "But an increase in exports is in the cards for the medium term in the context of the agreement signed on the Burgas-Alexandroupolis project," he went on to say.
According to Vilinov, the Sheskharis oil terminal expects to transfer 47,5 mln tonnes of crude oil (47 mln tonnes in 2006) and 8 mln tonnes of petroleum products in 2007.
Novorossisk Commercial Seaport is a major stevedore at the Novorossisk port. The company handled 74,899 mln tonnes of cargoes in 2006.
