SRS Develops Software to Keep Documents from Spreading Hidden Data
OREANDA-NEWS. On March 18, 2007 Document Detective, developed by SRS Technologies, prevents the accidental data leaks caused by hidden data and protects sensitive business, medical, legal, and Government information. This software helps users redact, sanitize and thoroughly review popular electronic document formats, reported the press-service of SRS Develops Software.
Document Detective discovers and removes more hidden data than all other products combined. SRS Technologies developed Document Detective to facilitate information sharing across security boundaries while preventing data leaks caused by the abundant amount of hidden data contained in most electronic documents. Document Detective is the only product available that meets the full intent of the Government's "100% reliable human review" criteria. Document Detective was designed specifically to prevent inadvertent data disclosures when classified Government documents are downgraded. The software identifies and removes more than 100 types of hidden data in Microsoft Office and Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files. This includes metadata, comments, embedded objects and files, deleted text and graphics, data outside viewable areas, Tracked Changes and much more.
Document Detective also detects and terminates Microsoft's Ad Hoc Review feature; a feature that automatically enables Tracked Changes without warning to the user. This information can be difficult to remove, especially from PowerPoint files. Document Detective is "THE ONLY" software that can easily remove Tracked Changes from Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel documents. It is the only product included on the Defense Security Service's Trusted Downloading Products List and it exceeds the requirements
set forth in the NSA's published guidance on data redaction.
Document Detective is being used at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), the Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL), the Pentagon, and other military organizations. The United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), based in Colorado Springs, recently deployed over 500 copies of Document Detective. SRS will be exhibiting Document Detective at the FOSE show at the Washington DC Convention Center on March 20-22, 2007. For more information stop by booth 317. With the growing need of Electronic Document Security and the release of Document Detective, the medical, legal, and corporate industries, as well as the U.S. Government can keep their ongoing requirement to be responsible with your private information.
