OREANDA-NEWS.On 7th March 2007 in the framework of Hong Kong International Jewellery Show -2007 a presentation of ALROSA Co. Ltd. and its rough and polished auction took place. It was the first experience for ALROSA of an auction in the South Pacific. 21 bidders from four countries - China (including Hong Kong), Israel, Belgium, USA - took part in it. Most of the bidders were registered in Hong Kong.

29 lots of rough diamonds (comprised of diamonds weighing 5-10 carats each) and also lots of polished diamonds were offered for sale.

Approximately 4,5 thousand carats of rough diamonds were sold for USD 4,8 million, and also polished diamonds for USD 1,3 million.

All the rough diamond lots were sold.

The largest of the polished diamonds sold weighed about 23 carats.

The managing director of Arcos-Honkong Vladlen Nogovitsyn commented that ‘most distinctively all the offered range of rough goods turned out in demand’.

The presentation of ALROSA was attended by representatives of some 50 Hong Kong diamond companies and local media.
