Russia and Uzbekistan to Resume Talks on Uzbek's Debt
OREANDA-NEWS. On March 7, 2007, Prime Ministers of Russia and Uzbekistan have agreed to resume talks on Uzbekistan's debt to Russia, Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Storchak told journalists following intergovernmental negotiations between the two countries.
According to him, negotiations will be complicated and require careful preparation. Storchak added that there were some problems with mutual payments in rubles, as well as problems in the Central Banks' operations in both countries. Currently Uzbekistan's debt amounts to $700 m plus fines and penalties.
