OREANDA-NEWS. In 2007 OJSC “VolgaTelecom” will continue to implement the project of the network modernization on the basis of NGN (Next Generation Network) equipment.

The project’s second stage makes provision for further expansion of NGN subscriber’s access in “VolgaTelecom” branches by 111 000 lines and the replacement of 79 100 lines of analogue switches during 2007.

All in all in 2006-2007 the commissioning of capacities under this project will be 247 900 lines. About 188 000 lines or 76% of the commissioned capacity will be allotted for the replacement of outdated equipment of analogue switches.

In 2006 “VolgaTelecom” invested about 1,3 billion roubles in the development of NGN-based network, for this year the investments are scheduled in amount of 587,5 million roubles.
