OREANDA-NEWS. Mobile TeleSystems (NYSE: MBT), the largest cellular operator in Russia and the CIS, informs that is has been granted additional licenses to provide local telephony services in 27 subjects of the Russian Federation.

The licenses issued by the Expert Board of the Federal Communications Supervisory Service will enable MTS and its subsidiaries Volgograd Mobile and Primtelefon to start construction of local telephone networks in 57 populated areas on the territory of 27 subjects of the Russian Federation.

MTS is currently licensed to build local telephone networks in 48 regions of the Russian Federation.
