OREANDA-NEWS. French company Alcatel SA has finished purchase of Lucent Technologies Inc., having created the world's largest company on manufacture of accessories for mobile phones and equipment for high-speed Internet access.

Reuters informed that the president of the USA George Bush has approved the transaction, which cost is estimated in $11,5 billion, in the beginning of November.

The general annual proceeds of the company should make approximately $25 billion that will make a powerful competition to the leader of the branch Cisco Systems Inc.

In the joint statement both companies have informed that their alliance will operate under the name Alcatel - Lucent from December 1, when shares of new structure will start bargaining at Paris stock exchange Euronext and the New York stock exchange under a new symbol "ALU".

The headquarters of the company will be based in Paris, and Patricia Russo, earlier a Head of Lucent, will be in the lead of Alcatel-Lucent. The company plans to reduce thousand workplaces in the Western Europe and North America.
