OREANDA-NEWS. As at 15th November 2006 "UTK" PJSC provided Internet access to 143 schools in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic within the framework of the priority national program "Education". By the end of the year 102 more schools will be connected to the global network.

In 2006-2007 the Kabardino-Balkarian branch of "UTK" PJSC plans to provide Internet access to 342 educational institutions, 72 of them located in the city of Nalchik, administrative center of the republic.

At present the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic is the only one among the regions of the Southern federal district which has telephone communication in all its localities. Besides, UTK provides dial-up Internet access in all regions of the republic. The number of dial-up users approximated to 15 thousand.
