North-West Telecom Has Completed the Construction of the Fibre-Optic Communication Line "Vologda – Kotlas – Syktyvkar"
OREANDA-NEWS. On 5th October 2006 North-West Telecom completed the construction of the fiber-optic communication line (FOCL) " Vologda – Kotlas – Syktyvkar", which has become a significant event both for the Company and for the entire Northwestern Federal District.
The FOCL passes through the Republic of Komi, Vologda Oblast and Arkhangelsk Oblast. The length of the new digital communication line is over 1000 km. 598 km pass through Vologda Oblast, 200 km though Arkhangelsk Oblast and 216 km through the Republic of Komi.
The total volume of OJSC N.W.Telecom 's investment allocated for the construction of this section of FOCL in 2005-2006 amounted to more than 300 million roubles. Equipment of the transmission system of synchronous digital hierarchy, level STM-16 made by Alcatel has been installed on the FOCL.
FOCL " Vologda – Kotlas – Syktyvkar" is a part of the fibre-optic infrastructure for creating a single interregional multiservice network (MSN) of OJSC North-West Telecom uniting the main MSN centre in St. Petersburg with regional MSN centers in all regional capitals of the North-West.
