OREANDA-NEWS. Analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" conducted a study of the market of new passenger cars by the results of 8 months of 2016 and it made a rating of the most popular diesel models in Russia.

According to the study, the best-selling passenger car equipped with a diesel engine in our country is SUV Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, whose market volume in January - August of this year was 6589 units, which is less by 4% than in the same period of 2015. In the second place there is another model of the Japanese brand - Toyota Land Cruiser, the result of which was 5685 cars (+ 50%). The third place belongs to diesel crossover Renault Duster (3530 units), the sales of which increased by 73.5%.

The top five leaders is closed by the BMW X5 (3047 units; + 11%) and the Audi Q7 (3009 units; + 213%). The top 10 of sales of new passenger cars, equipped with diesel engines, in January - August of 2016 also included: Toyota Hilux (2462 units; + 42%), Mercedes-Benz GLS (2317 units; + 9%), Lexus LX (2122 units), the BMW X6 (1879 units; + 11.5%) and Hyundai Santa Fe (1733 units; + 24%).

We also note that during the reporting period, sales of diesel cars in Russia were 64.8 thousand units, which practically corresponds to the (-0.3%), the result of a year ago. Thus, the share of these vehicles was approximately 8% of the total market volume.
