The ChelPipe Group has shipped the first 3,300 tons of large diameter pipes for the construction of the Nord Stream 2 Pipeline
OREANDA-NEWS. The ChelPipe Group has shipped the first 3,300 tons of large diameter pipes (LDP) for the construction of the Nord Stream 2 Pipeline. The official shipment ceremony was held in Chelyabinsk in the presence of ChelPipe Group shareholders Andrey Komarov and Alexandr Fyodorov, Chief Executive Officer of Nord Stream 2 AG (gas pipeline operator) Matthias Warnig, Chief Project Officer of Nord Stream 2 AG Henning Kothe, Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Boris Dubrovskiy, CEO of the Chelyabinsk Pipe plant Alexandr Grubman, and CEO of the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works Pavel Shilyayev. The first batch of tubular goods for Nord Stream 2, which compiled pipes with a diameter of 1,153 mm and wall thickness of 30.9 mm, with internal and external anticorrosion coating, was produced in the Vysota 239 plant of MISW-manufactured steel plate (Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works), and until the end of September it will be delivered by rail to the city of Kotka in Finland.
- Since the beginning of the 2000s, there was more than 400 billion rubles of private investments made to the technological re-equipment of the Russian pipe and related metallurgical industrial branches. During this time, a technological breakthrough was made, which resulted in the fact that today Russia has all the production facilities necessary for the implementation of on-land and submarine gas transmission lines. The participation of Russian pipe manufacturers in one of the world's most complex projects—the construction of the Nord Stream 2 Pipeline, which for the first time on 60% will consist of pipes manufactured in Russia—serves as a confirmation of the highest quality of the domestic manufactured tubular goods, said the shareholder of the ChelPipe Group, Co-chairman of the Pipe Industry Foundation Andrey Komarov.
- All parties involved in the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project are focused on the highest environmental, technical, and safety standards. To participate in the project, the ChelPipe Group has passed the LDP certification for compliance with the Det Norske Veritas standard and the prequalification audit by Nord Stream AG, which confirmed the high technology and production safety and the high professional level of the personnel, says the Chief Project Officer of the Nord Stream 2 AG Henning Kothe.
