Trial Run for Turbines at SSE’s Bhlaraidh Wind Farm
OREANDA-NEWS. A trial run for the turbines at SSE’s Bhlaraidh wind farm will take place on Tuesday 20 September 2016 between 9.00am and 2.00pm.
The trial run will be carried out on the delivery route from Kyle of Lochalsh Harbour to the Broadford Aerodrome where the vehicle shall turn and then travel on to the Bhlaraidh wind farm site near Invermoriston. This route encompasses the local road network, the A87 and A887 south from the Isle of Skye. The local road network affected includes Kyle Prospect Road where the harbours lower level car parking bays shall be closed off for the duration of the trail run. Alternative parking shall be made available at the Lochalsh Hotel and the Lochalsh Leisure Centre.
Details for this route have been agreed with the Highland Council, Police Scotland and Transport Scotland.
The trial run involves running a long vehicle with an extendable trailer that simulates the dimensions of a turbine blade, our wind turbines longest component, as they travel along the delivery route. Out with the period of the trial run the trailer will be closed up and no larger than a standard HGV.
