OREANDA-NEWS. Kaliningrad plant "Autotor" continues to develop its project on the organization of the automotive cluster in the "SEZ Kaliningrad" and currently it is in search of automotive component manufacturers. In an interview with the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT" the General Director of "Holding Autotor", Alexander Sorokin, said about it.

Recall, we are talking about a cluster production capacity of up to 350 thousand cars per year, about the creation of which the representatives of "Autotor" noted back in 2012. The first stage with the production capacity of up to 200 thousand cars per a year was planned to start in the beginning of 2016. And subsequently the announced plans and deadlines were adjusted severely.

According to Mr.Sorokin, in the territory of the cluster it is being prepared now the engineering buildings and road construction and it was already carried out all excavation works. In the near future it will begin the construction of workshops for a number of plants. In the meantime, "Autotor" provides manufacturers of components with its area. It is already known that there will be localized the production of seats, upholstery, heating and ventilation systems, instrument panels. The partner search is also underway.

"I have already said that we do not assemble - we produce. We go on long-term cooperation, if the partner is willing to invest, - said Mr. Sorokin. – “We built all not to just “assemble” cars. Today we have two levels of production: SKD4 (if a small volume of production) and CKD (with larger volumes of production). Localization there and there – is not only possible, but also obligatory, and we do it".
