OREANDA-NEWS. Kaliningrad plant "Autotor" is preparing to start of production of a number of models of BMW. In an interview with the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT" the general director of " Autotor Holding ", Alexander Sorokin. Currently, at "Avtotor" there are produced BMW models by method SKD4 such as sedans of 3rd and 5th Series, as well as the line of crossovers X3, X4, X5, X6.

At the same time, according to Mr.Sorokin, "Autotor" has no plans to expand the capacity. The task – is to focus on production localization. In some projects of BMW, he said, the terms are shifted”. We recall that a few years ago we talked about various projects of "Autotor" with BMW: from the expansion of production at the plant until the creation of the joint venture.

Currently, "Autotor", in addition to BMW, produces cars KIA, Hyundai (passenger and commercial) trucks and Tata Daewoo. Negotiations are under way with several other companies. As previously reported "AUTOSTAT", for the first half of 2016 the volume of production in the Kaliningrad plant was more than 42 thousand cars, which is less by 4% than a year ago.
