Isuzu Plans to Produce in Ulyanovsk Region Up to 5 thousand Trucks Per a Year
OREANDA-NEWS. The company "Isuzu Rus" and Ulyanovsk Region Development Corporation signed an agreement on August 11, according to which the Russian subsidiary of the Japanese Isuzu Motors becomes the "anchor" resident of the industrial parc of "UAZ" in Ulyanovsk.
Recall that the assembly shop "Isuzu Rus" was opened in the territory of the plant "UAZ" in Ulyanovka in May of 2012 within the joint venture with the Russian "Sollers". Trucks Isuzu are assembled in Ulyanovsk with the usage of both imported and localized parts and components, previously reported "AUTOSTAT". In January of 2016, Japanese shareholders bought the share of "Sollers", by confirming the long-term interest in the Russian market. The company's plans –are the further localization of production in the territory of the Ulyanovsk region.
Investments in the implementation of the investment project exceeds 150 million rubles, it will be additionally created about 100 new jobs for residents of the region. According to the company, currently 220 people work in the production and it is planned to increase this figure up to 300 employees throughout the year. The company today produces trucks of small and medium tonnage from 5 to 18 tons. In 2017, the Japanese partners plan to start the production in Ulyanovsk new line of heavy-duty trucks with carrying capacity of 24 tons.
According to the CEO of "Isuzu Rus" Fabrice Gorlie, currently in Ulyanovsk, the company produces 2.5 thousand trucks per a year. In the long term of one and a half or two years, the investor plans to double production. And the next year it is planned to start in Ulyanovsk the production of new line - C and E series - a heavy-duty trucks with a total capacity of 30 tons. "This is a new, important for us segment of the market", - said Fabrice Gorlie. In addition, the company is considering the possibility of organizing of pickups D-Max assembly in Russia, which is now being imported to our country. As noted, it will happen in case of the successful launch of this model in the Russian market.
Currently Isuzu trucks assembled in Russia are exported to Belarus and Kazakhstan markets, in 2017 Azerbaijan will be added to them, and the share of exports will reach 5%.
