OREANDA-NEWS. BMW has decided not to implement the compulsory from the next year ERA-GLONASS system in their convertibles and coupes, by considering it impractical economically. Instead, as "Kommersant" noted, the company chose to remove gradually the niche models from the market, which have only 2% of the sales of the brand.

Russians will not suffer immediately from a lack of models in the market. According to the technical regulations of the Customs Union, all cars that will go into circulation in 2017 must be equipped with devices of call emergency services. Therefore, BMW plans back in 2016 to bring the lot of its coupes and convertibles - as they say, "with reserve", based on the sales in 2017.

Source: "Ъ" noted that for BMW the integration costs of GLONASS system is approximately € 250 thousand, the cost of testing – is more than 500 thousand rubles, and it does not include the cost of destroyed cars. However, for other BMW models it will be introduce GLONASS system, as it considers the Russian market for itself very important.
