TFS Named One of Most Community-Minded Companies in Nation
OREANDA-NEWS. Toyota Financial Services (TFS), long at the forefront of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), has once again been named one of the most community-minded companies in the nation by Points of Light Foundation. For the second consecutive year, TFS has been included on the nonprofit’s Civic 50 list, the latest of many accolades the company has received for its CSR initiatives and its dedication to supporting and empowering its communities.
The Civic 50 sets the standard for corporate community engagement nationwide, and creates a roadmap for companies seeking to best use their time, talent, and resources to improve the quality of life in the communities where they do business. Each year, 50 companies are honored as determined by an annual survey. Winners are selected based on four dimensions of their national community engagement programs: Integration, Investment, Impact, and Institutionalization. TFS scored very well in all four categories, and is ranked the #1 company in the financial sector.
TFS is being specifically recognized for such initiatives as its Making Life Easier Financial Empowerment strategy, its partnerships with Girl Scouts and Boys & Girls Clubs, and its Community Ambassador program, which promotes team member (employee) engagement within the community. Through these initiatives, 1,267 team members – 48% of TFS’ workforce – volunteered over 31,600 hours in 2015.
“Through our ‘making life easier’ programs, Toyota Financial Services partners with best-in-class, nationally recognized organizations – like Boys & Girls Clubs, Girl Scouts, and Junior Achievement – to provide educational opportunities and tools to underserved youth, with a focus on financial education,” said Mike Groff, President & CEO of Toyota Financial Services. “We are very honored that Points of Light Foundation has again named us one of its Civic 50. Each of our 39 Toyota Financial Services offices across the country, are dedicated to sharing their ‘know-how’ and skills to best serve their local communities, and this award is a true testament to their work.”
Recognizing that business success is dependent on a healthy economy and sound credit decisions by consumers, TFS has developed a Financial Empowerment initiative which drives upward mobility by equipping and empowering under-represented youth and local community members with the tools and resources they need to make informed financial decisions. As part of this initiative, TFS partnered with Girls Scouts of the USA to launch “Driving My Financial Future” in 2014 – first providing financial education to 26,000 under-represented girls in 10 cities, and now making that curriculum available nationwide to 1.9 million girls, ages 5 to 18. The curriculum includes financial education badge toolkits created by TFS.
Additionally, TFS renewed and expanded its partnership with Junior Achievement. Together, they have the potential to reach 50,000 students in the coming school year.
TFS also supports and develops its team members with community involvement programs such as its Community Ambassador program, which empowers team members to build strategic partnerships with local nonprofits and engages team members to participate in community activities. The program provides a robust training and support network, giving team members an opportunity to develop key workplace skills, including relationship-building, project management, and communication. So far, over 45 Ambassadors, representing 100% of TFS offices across the country, have crafted strategic partnerships with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Girls Scouts of the USA, Junior Achievement, and other local organizations. TFS also offers paid time volunteering to all of its team members, and includes employee community involvement participation targets on the corporate scorecard.
